Gungahlin Leisure Centre 50-metre pool closing for maintenance on 1 July 2019, reopening on 26 August 2019.
During this period the pool will be drained, and routine maintenance will take place. It is best practice to close public pools every five years to conduct routine maintenance. We are also taking the opportunity to address ongoing issues with tiles falling off the south concourse wall of the pool. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
The 25-metre pool will remain open during this period and the closure of the 50-metre pool will not affect learn-to-swim programs, splash park or the health club at the Gungahlin Leisure Centre.
Alternative Pool Options
For people wanting to use a 50-metre pool including squad membership holders, community groups and participants, YMCA NSW has arranged for alternative lane space to be available at the Canberra Olympic Pool in Civic and Lakeside Leisure Centre in Tuggeranong, subject to lane and pool availability. Please call Gungahlin Leisure Centre on 6241 1132 for further information.
A dry land training (gym) program will also be implemented to offer other alternatives for squad membership holders.
All members will also be provided options to place memberships on hold for the duration of the closure.
Canberra International Sports and Aquatic Centre and the AIS Aquatic Centre are also within 10km drive of the Gungahlin Leisure Centre and are alternatives for lap swimming during the 50-metre pool closure.
